Binghamton Senators News Release
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators, in conjunction with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York, announced today the details of the first annual Make-A-Wish Cup. The event is set to take place on Wednesday, March 23 as the B-Sens host the Syracuse Crunch at 7:05 p.m.
During the meeting which will be the seventh of eight regular season games between the East Division rivals, the B-Sens and Crunch will partner to raise funds and awareness for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York, which serves both the greater Binghamton and Syracuse areas.
As part of the festivities, the Binghamton Senators will present a cake during the first intermission created specially for the event by Charm City Cakes, the Baltimore bakery made famous on the Food Network's Ace of Cakes. The cake will arrive fresh from the Baltimore bakery thanks to support from FedEx Ground.
Starting today fans will have the opportunity to choose which flavor they want the cake to be. Fans are encouraged to visit the Binghamton Senators Facebook page (www.facebook.com/binghamtonsenators) to cast their vote. The top two flavor choices will be unveiled during the March 23 cake presentation.
Following the first intermission presentation, fans who visit the cake display on the main concourse of the arena can "purchase" a slice of the cake (while it lasts) by making a donation of $5 or more to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York.
Charm City Cakes will also create a special fondant Binghamton Senators logo. The logo will be packaged following the cake presentation with instructions on how to preserve the fondant and a letter of authenticy. This unique collector's item will be auctioned off post-game with proceeds benefitting the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York.
"There is a great deal at stake for each team", said Diane Kuppermann, Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York President & CEO. "The winning team will be presented the coveted Make-A-Wish Cup trophy to house until next year's game, front office wagers are on the line, and of course community pride."
"This two city, two club night is a collaborative effort by both organizations in support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation mission to grant wishes to children living with life-threatening medical conditions. At the end of the night and throughout the year, the real winners are the wish kids in the greater Binghamton and Syracuse communities."
Tickets to the game will be available for $15. $2.50 from every ticket sold will be donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York. Fans who wish to purchase tickets may contact Jason Camp at the Binghamton Senators executive offices at 607-722-7367.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Central New York is a nonprofit organization dedicated to granting special wishes to children between the ages of 2-1/2 and 18 who are living with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
