THE WEEK THAT WAS:

Wednesday, Devils 5 vs. Bridgeport 4

Chad Wiseman

scored four goals in the last nine minutes and thirty-five seconds, lifting the Devils to a 5-4, come-from-behind victory against the Sound Tigers. Wiseman not only tied the Devils AHL record for goals in a game, but set the franchise standard for goals in a period. Trailing 4-1 with less than 10 minutes to play, Wiseman supplied goals at 10:25, 16:28, 17:23 and 19:28. Stephen Gionta had primary assists on three of the four goals. Mike McKenna was credited with the win, stopping 29 shots.

Friday, Devils 2 at Adirondack 1

Northway rivalry intensified as the Devils and the Phantoms totaled 130 penalty minutes in a game in which Albany prevailed, 2-1. Tim Sestito had the game-winner at 4:21 of the third period to give the Devils a 5-4 lead in the 12-game series for the Time Warner Cable Cup. Chad Wiseman had the other tally, which came at 4:22 of the first period from Jay Leach and Steve Zalewski. Mike McKenna earned his third-straight win by making 25 saves.

Saturday, Devils 2 vs. Springfield 1

The Devils rolled their winning streak to three games with a 2-1 victory against the Falcons. Brad Mills had the deciding goal and Alexander Vasyunov also scored. Dave Caruso, who was recalled from Trenton (ECHL) on Mar. 11, made 28 stops and earned his sixth win of the season. Mills' winner came at 6:39 of the third period thanks to a pass from behind the net by Matt Anderson. Jay Leach earned the second helper.

Sunday, Devils 4 vs. Syracuse 1

With the help of two Nathan Perkovich goals, the Devils extended their winning streak to four games with a 4-1 victory against the Crunch. Perkovich, who missed 33 games with an injury between Dec. 10 and Feb. 27, scored twice in the first period for his fifth and sixth goals of the season. Mike McKenna made 22 saves for his fourth straight win and Chad Wiseman and Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond provided additional scoring.

NOTABLES:

-- The Devils have participated in 32 one-goal games this season, going 18-10-1-3. Thirteen of its last 16 outings have been decided by a goal and the team is 7-5-1-0 during that span.

-- The Devils have matched a season high for consecutive wins with four straight. They also accomplished the feat between Jan. 8-15. Albany is also winners of six of its last eight games (6-2-0-0).

-- Chad Wiseman, who was named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week, tied a franchise record for goals in a game and set the standard for goals in a period when he netted four goals in the final 9:35 of the third period against Bridgeport on Wednesday. He became only the seventh player in AHL history to score four goals in a period. Wiseman followed with a goal at Adirondack on Saturday and a goal against Syracuse on Sunday. For the season, Wiseman has 32 points with 12 goals and 20 helpers.

-- Sunday's game against Syracuse was Stephen Gionta's 300th career AHL game. The Devils' captain has registered 55 goals and 66 assists since coming into the league at the end of the 2005-06 season. In a Devils uniform, Gionta has 115 points, tying the club record, with 50 goals and 65 assists.

-- Pierre-Luc Letourneau-Leblond has registered his fourth goal in 12 games with a tally against Syracuse on Sunday. Leblond has matched a career-high for goals with five, which he also produced during the 2008-09 season.

-- Goaltender Mike McKenna is riding a four game winning streak with wins against Adirondack (Mar. 5), against Bridgeport (Mar. 9), at Adirondack (Mar. 11) and against Syracuse (Mar. 13). He leads the team with 12 wins (12-16-0).

-- Dave Caruso is also having success between the pipes. In his last five AHL contests, he has produced a 4-1-0-0 record. Most recently, he made 28 saves against Springfield on Mar. 12. For the season, Caruso is 6-6-0.

These two teams combined for 122 penalty minutes on Sunday and will meet again three days later. The Devils recently halted the Crunch's four-game winning streak and Syracuse now sits in seventh place in the East Division with a 24-34-3-4 record (55 pts.). Patrick Maroon, who began the season with Adirondack, has totaled 36 points with 18 goals and 18 assists. In a Crunch uniform, he has 13 goals and 15 assists in 43 games. The Devils saw both Jean-Philippe Levasseur and Timo Pielmeier in goal on Sunday. Levasseur is 10-21-3 with a 2.91 goals-against average and a .914 save percentage. Pielmeier has a 10-15-1 record with a 3.27 goals-against average and a .903 save percentage.

Friday, Devils at Norfolk (7:30 p.m.) & Saturday, Devils at Norfolk (7:15 p.m.)

In their last 10 games, the Admirals have gone 7-2-0-1, improving to 34-19-8-5 on the season. Their 81 points is good enough for third in the East Division. Marc-Antoine Pouliot leads the team with 56 points backed by 20 goals and a club-best 36 assists. He is tied for first with a plus-18 rating and is averaging 1.02 points per game. Behind him is Johan Harju, who has totaled 45 points with a team-high 21 goals and 24 assists. In goal, Dustin Tokarski has posted a 19-15-4 record with a 2.41 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage.
