
Buitenhuis Agrees to Terms on AHL Contact

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers, proud AHL affiliate of the New York Islanders, announced Saturday that goaltender Evan Buitenhuis has agreed to terms on an American Hockey League contract.
Buitenhuis, 25, is in his first professional season out of Hamilton College and currently plays with the Sound Tigers' ECHL affiliate, the Worcester Railers. He has made six appearances with the Railers this season, posting a 2.73 goals-against-average and .918 save percentage. He made 33 saves in his pro debut on Oct. 26 and guided the Railers to a 4-3 win at Manchester.
A native of Burlington, Ont., Buitenhuis played each of the last four seasons at Hamilton College and went 37-17-12 in 68 career games, with a 1.67 goals-against-average and .944 save percentage. In addition, the 6'2, 185-pound goalie led all Division III netminders in goals-against-average (1.28) and save percentage (.954) during his senior season, both program records. He received the school's 2018 Jack B. Riffle Award as the top male athlete in Hamilton's senior class.
"Wizards and Warlocks" Tonight: The Sound Tigers will face Providence for the fourth time this season on "Wizards and Warlocks Night" at Webster Bank Arena, tonight at 7 p.m. Harry Potter fans will be elated with the Sound Tigers newest promotion, which includes a free "House of Storm" scarf to the first 1,000 fans in attendance. Veteran's Day This Sunday: The Sound Tigers will battle the first-place Charlotte Checkers this Sunday with several promotions on tap for Veteran's Day. All veterans and active duty personnel will receive a free ticket by visiting the Webster Bank Arena Click It Or Ticket Box Office and showing a valid military ID. In addition, receive a free set of Sound Tigers trading cards, which include notable New York Islanders draft picks and other top prospects sponsored by IBEW Local 488. Fifty-cent chicken wings and $5 16 oz. beers (drafts and cans) are available at the Masons Bar, located on the upper concourse level. Reserve your seats now!
Packed Promotional Lineup: The Sound Tigers will boast one of their most extensive and wide-ranging promotional schedules ever for the 2018-19 season. The fan-friendly calendar includes the return of popular themes like Hockey and Hops (Nov. 23 and Mar. 17), Military Appreciation (Jan. 12), Star Wars Night (Jan. 19) and Princess Night (Mar. 30). Regional hockey fans will be elated for the addition of Hockey Weekend in Connecticut (Feb. 23-24), while other new headliners include Holiday Gift Weekend (Dec. 15-16) and a revamped Teddy Bear Toss (Nov. 23).
