San Jose Barracuda News Release
Tucson, AZ - The San Jose Barracuda (9-3-0-1) failed to score for the second consecutive night on Saturday at the Tucson Convention Center and fell to the Tucson Roadrunners (9-3-0-1), 1-0.
After getting badly outshot 17-2 in the first period on Friday in a 5-0 loss, San Jose found its sea legs early on Saturday in Tucson as the 'Cuda dictated the pace of play for most of the first and outshot Tucson 11-9, but the score remained 0-0 through 20 minutes.
After Adam Helewka took a roughing penalty with three seconds left in the first, the Barracuda opened the second period on the man-advantage but couldn't break through on Merrick Madsen. Each team would have a pair of power-play opportunities in the second, but the score remained even through two periods.
In the third, Tucson's Hudson Fasching (3) drew first blood as he wrapped a loose puck inside the far post at 9:04. Despite a late power play, the Barracuda couldn't even the score, suffering their first back-to-back losses of the season.
Antoine Bibeau (4-2-1) suffered the hard-luck defeat after allowing just one goal on 27 Tucson shots, while Madsen (3-0-0-0) earned his second consecutive shutout by stopping all 28 San Jose shots.
The Barracuda return to SAP Center at San Jose on November 18 when they take on the Colorado Eagles for Cleveland Barons night. The Barracuda will completely rebrand as the Barons for the evening, Sharks affiliate from 2001-to-2006, and will specialty Barons jersey. In addition, the first 4,000 fans in attendance will receive a Barons replica jersey.
