The Rayz mustered six shots on net.

In the second period the Bucks broke through with three goals to take a lead. Rookie Brent MacSween got Laredo on the board with a power play goal at 5:53. The Bucks then took their first lead at 13:49 when a Chris Korchinski wraparound chance deflected off the skate o Rayz defenseman Matt Smyth and into the net. Laredo made it 3-1 when James Hiebert beat Tapp with a one-timer from the top of the right circle at 18:32. The Bucks outshot the Rayz 13-9 in the frame.

The Bucks quickly made it 4-1 in the third when Jeff Genovy tipped a puck over Tapp and into the net at 1:32. Following the goal, Tapp was pulled for Kevin Couture. The Rayz got within one when Chris Shaffer scored his first as a member of the Rayz 8:19. Corpus Christi got a late power play opportunity and pulled their goaltender with a chance to pull within a goal, but Hiebert scored a shorthanded empty net goal at 18:25 to seal the win.
