
Brubaker Silences SeaWolves on Monday Night

The SeaWolves opened a three-game series against the Altoona Curve on Monday night at People's Natural Gas Field with a 7-0 loss.
Altoona got on the board against Erie starter Beau Burrows in the bottom of the second. Will Craig led off with a walk and moved into scoring position on a two-out Elvis Escobar base knock. Craig scored on a Bralin Jackson base hit for a 1-0 lead.
The Curve added to the lead in the third. Cole Tucker led off with a double and moved to third in a Stephen Alemais base hit. With one out, Will Craig grounded out, scoring Tucker for a 2-0 lead.
Altoona knocked Burrows out of the game in the fifth. Tucker walked with one out and Alemais singled putting a pair on for Jason Martin. Martin singled to right and on an error by Jacob Robson, both baserunners scored for a 4-0 Curve lead. Kyle Dowdy came in and replaced Burrows and gave up a single to Craig, scoring Martin for a 5-0 lead.
In the seventh, Dowdy gave up a two-out double to Martin, extending the inning for Craig. Craig singled home Martin for a 6-0 lead.
Altoona would cap the night's scoring in the eighth against reliever Adam Ravenelle. Jordan George led off with a hit and moved into scoring position on a Jackson two-out single. Jackson Williams singled home George for a 7-0 lead.
Curve starter J.T. Brubaker (1-1) was the story of the night as he limited the SeaWolves to just three singles over seven scoreless innings. Two of the three knocks came in the first. Brubaker would retire 19 of the last 20 hitters he faced including finishing his outing retiring the final 13.
Burrows (1-2) took his second consecutive loss for the 'Wolves. He allowed five runs, four earned, on six hits with three walks and a strikeout in 4.1 innings of work.
The loss dropped the SeaWolves to 0-3 against the Curve and the Erie streak of having a leads in a game was snapped at 16.
The SeaWolves and Curve meet in the middle game of the series on Tuesday night at PNG Field at 6 p.m. Righty Sandy Baez (0-1, 3.68 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Dario Agrazal (1-0, 0.00 ERA).
