Hartford Yard Goats infielder Brendan Rodgers

(Hartford, CT) The Hartford Yard Goats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Colorado Rockies, has been informed that Yard Goats infielder Brendan Rodgers has been named Eastern League Player of the Week today. Rodgers batted .520 (13-25) with 4 doubles, home run, 6 RBI, 3 runs and an .800 slugging percentage during the week. He has raised his average from .143 to .300, going 13-25 during his current 6-game hit-streak, and went 5-5 on Sunday against Harrisburg. He is 9 for his last 13 at-bat with 3 doubles, a homer, and 5 RBI over the past four games. This is the first career Eastern League award for Rodgers who represented the Rockies, Yard Goats and the Eastern League in the MLB Futures Game in Miami last July. He joined the Yard Goats mid-season, after batting .400 in the Class-A California League. Last season, the Yard Goats had five Eastern League award winners, as infielder Ryan McMahon, infielder Josh Fuentes (twice) and RHP Yency Almonte were chosen as weekly award winners. McMahon was selected as the EL Player of month in April.
Rodgers, 21, is the highest ever draft pick to play for the Yard Goats as he was the third overall pick in the first round selected by the Rockies in 2015. He is listed as the Rockies #1 prospect by both MLB Pipeline and Baseball America and is in his second season at Hartford. He spent most of this past spring training in Major League camp with the Rockies in Scottsdale, Arizona.
