ERIE AVOIDS BINGHAMTON BROOMS: The SeaWolves scored five times in the third inning en route to their 7-3 win over the Rumble Ponies on Sunday afternoon. Michael Gibbons lasted 2.1 innings in his first start of the season before giving way to four Rumble Pony relievers. Binghamton continues its weeklong homestand by welcoming in the New Hampshire Fisher Cats for a three-game series.

BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Joseph Shaw makes his third start of 2018 and second straight against New Hampshire. On April 18 at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium, the 24-year-old went 5.2 innings of three-run baseball in a 5-4 Binghamton loss. Shaw ranks third in the Eastern League with a 0.77 BB/IP ratio.

LATE BLOOMERS: Binghamton took two of three from Erie despite the SeaWolves scoring first in all three games. The Rumble Ponies are 3-0 when they're on the board first, but haven't done so since April 17 at New Hampshire.

HIT PARADE: On Sunday, the Rumble Ponies had double digit hits for the third time this season. Even so, Binghamton allowed a season-worst 15 hits, with 8 of the 9 SeaWolves starters collecting a hit. The 25 combined hits is a season-high.

NEW YORK NICK: INF Nick Sergakis made his season debut Sunday afternoon, finishing 1-for-4 with an RBI double

DOUBLE TROUBLE: The Ponies collected a season-best four doubles on Sunday, generated from four different players. In the sixth inning, Peter Alonso, Kevin Taylor, and Nick Sergakis each collected doubles, earning Binghamton a pair of runs.

LOOSE LEATHER: Binghamton has committed 10 errors over the last five games and a league-worst 16 this season. INF Jeff McNeil committed both of Sunday's blunders in Erie's five-run third inning.

NOT JOSHIN' AROUND: RHP Josh Torres pitched for the third time this season in Sudnay's 7-3 loss. The Puerto Rican tossed two shutout frames, extending his scoreless innings streak to 4.0 innings pitched. The 23-year-old has eight strikeouts to one walk.

SCOUTING THE FISHER CATS: Already with 11 wins, New Hampshire leads the Eastern Division and is tied for the best mark in the League. The Fisher Cats have won four of the last five, including back-to-back victories at Reading. The current Fisher Cats roster features three sons of former Major Leaguers (Vlad Guerrero Jr., Cavan Biggio, & Bo Bichette), and former big-league reliever Craig Breslow.

UP NEXT: The Rumble Ponies continue their weeklong homestand Tuesday evening at NYSEG Stadium. Binghamton sends RHP Andrew Church to the mound to face RHP Jordan Romano. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 PM.
