Brett Myers to pitch for Reading Saturday

Reading, PA - The Philadelphia Phillies will send RHP Brett Myers to Reading where he will start on Saturday vs. the Akron Aeros at 6:35 PM.

Myers was optioned to the Minor Leagues on July 1. In two starts for the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs Myers was 1-1 with a 3.65 ERA (12.1 IP, 12 H, 6 R, 5 ER, 4 BB and 12 SO). He pitched into the 8th inning vs. Louisville in his last start (7/7).

With Philadelphia Myers was 3-9 with a 5.84 ERA in 17 starts. In 101.2 IP he allowed 115 H, 70 R, 66 ER, 44 BB and had 88 SO.

Myers last pitched in Reading during the 2001 season as a 20-year old. He skipped Class-A Clearwater that year to come to the Eastern League directly from the South Atlantic League where he had pitched the year before. He was 13-4 with a 3.87 ERA (156.0 IP, 156 H, 71 R, 67 ER, 43 BB and 130 SO) during the regular season and went to Major League Baseball's All-Star Futures Game. In the playoffs for Reading, Myers was 0-1 in one start (8.0 IP, 4H, 3 R, 2 ER, 4 BB [1 IBB], 10 SO).
