Boulders Walk Off Federals, 7-6

RAMAPO, New York - Scott Clement hit a sacrifice fly to deep centerfield with Vic Buttler standing on third base to lift the Rockland Boulders over the New York Federals, 7-6, in 11 innings in Can-Am League action Sunday night at Provident Bank Park.
Clement was the final batter for the second straight game, hitting a walk off single in game two of Saturday's double-header in extra frames, and the game-winning sacrifice fly in the 11th on Sunday.
The Federals (8-33) took advantage of some shaky defense by the Boulders in the top of the first. Clement, making his first start at first base, misplayed a grounder on the first play of the game. Alex Sumner then laid down a perfect bunt for an infield single. Rockland starter John Muller got Jacob Fabry to hit into a double play, but Eddie Lantigua knocked in Jacob Rosenbeck on hard grounder that took a bad hop off Clement, leaving the Federals with a 1-0 lead after one.
New York got to Muller again in the second. Kyle Gerhart doubled with two runners on to bring in Sandy DeLeon and increase the Federal lead to two. Rosenbeck followed with a two-RBI single to give New York a 4-0 advantage.
Ray Stokes got the Boulders on the board in the bottom of the third. He hit his second home run of the season, a solo shot into the short porch in right field that tightened the score at 4-1.
Ryan Mollica hit his second home run in as many games in the bottom of the fourth. With Vic Buttler standing on second, Mollica hit a long ball into the monster seats in right field to bring Rockland within one.
Rockland tied the game in the bottom of the fifth. With runners on the corners, New York starter Luis Pardo threw the ball away on a pickoff attempt, allowing Stokes to score.
New York quickly erased the Boulders' run in the top of the sixth. Rosenbeck doubled with Felix Adamkiewicz on second to give the Federals the lead once again.
Mike Richard led off the home half of the seventh with a walk, and then stole second for his first stolen base as a Boulder. Cole Kraft bunted to move Richard over, and the throw to first hit Kraft in the leg, allowing Richard to come around to score to and tie the game. Rockland later loaded the bases with two outs, but failed to bring another run in.
The Federals took the lead once again in the top of the eighth. With Rosenbeck on second, Jacob Fabry hit a ground ball up the middle that was fielded by Kraft and thrown late to first. The ball was dropped by Clement, giving Rosenbeck time to score and give the Federals the 6-5 lead.
In the bottom of the ninth, Vic Buttler singled with one out. He stole his fifth base of the season to put himself in scoring position. With two outs, Ryan Mollica hit a fly ball off the top of the right field wall to plate Buttler and tie the ballgame.
Vic Buttler fell just a few feet short of a walk off home run in the bottom of the 11th, after his double hit the top of the fence. He then moved up to third on a wild pitch. Clement, Saturday night's hero, hit a deep fly ball to centerfield, long enough for Buttler to score from third and win the game for the Boulders.
The Boulders (18-22) will make their second trip up to Quebec on Monday to take on the Capitales in a three-game swing. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
Casey Hodges (3-3) makes his eighth start of the season Monday evening against Quebec's Bryan Rembisz (4-1).
