Tornadoes Surprize Promotion Set for Sunday
July 10, 2011 - Canadian American League (Can-Am)
Worcester Tornadoes News Release
The Tornadoes have announced a brand new promotion for Sunday afternoon's game: Microphone Madness!
This afternoon will be filled with karaoke, performances and all of your favorite in-between inning games too. Fans can take part in the festivities themselves just by bringing a microphone (real or fake, metal, plastic, paper, cardboard, or whatever you can make a pretend one out of). Fans who bring their mikes to the box office at the main gate will get a dollar off of each ticket for today's game if they haven't already reserved their seats.
The inspiration for today's promotion is also a monumental event in baseball history. To our knowledge, it will be the first time ever that a radio/web broadcaster will be the public address announcer at the same time! Our normal PA guy, John Leahy, is off broadcasting a Lowell Spinners game, and our broadcaster, Nick Gagalis, has always wanted to do some baseball PA. He didn't want to blow off his broadcasting duties, so he figured why not do both?
Fans listening to the broadcast on USTREAM will be able to hear Nick introduce each and every player as the PA Announcer. For anyone at the park interested in tuning in, the game will be broadcast at a few computers at different stations on the concourse (the merchandise booth, Twister's Treats, etc.)
Gates open at 3:00pm for Microphone Madness.
