Champions to Hold Open Tryouts

April 20, 2018 - OTTAWA - The Ottawa Champions are hosting their open tryouts on Saturday, May 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the field at RCGT Park. The tryouts are an opportunity for players to showcase their skills in front of Champions manager Hal Lanier and his coaching staff. Various drills will be prepared for players of all positions. There is NO FEE to tryout - anyone who believes they have what it takes is allowed to attend. The tryouts also provide players the chance to play on the 2015 and 2016 Can-Am League Field of the Year.... Full Story

March 27, 2018 - OTTAWA - Another offseason deal took place earlier this week that saw the Ottawa Champions deal OF MATT HELMS to a team in the American Association. Honouring an earlier trade request by the outfielder, they dealt Helms to the Cleburne Railroaders in exchange for a player to be named later. March 14, 2018 - OTTAWA - Another former major leaguer has elected to don an Ottawa Champions uniform. LHP SCOTT MAINE signed a contract to join the Champions for the 2018 season, bringing a wealth of experience in affiliated, independent, and major leagues. The 33-year-old veteran has split MLB time with the Cleveland Indians and Chicago Cubs. He spent parts of three seasons with the Cubs, posting a 2.08 ERA in his debut 2010 season with the Cubs.
