Boulders Hang on to Edge 'Dogs and Even Series

LINCOLN -- In another well-pitched game in the Capital City, the Saltdogs (46-40) were upended by the Rockland Boudlers (42-42) 2-1 in front of 4,767 fans at Haymarket Park Saturday night.

Rockland scored a run in the first, and a unearned run in the second to take the early 2-0 lead.

Bo Budkevics (1-3) pitched six innings, allowing one run on seven hits to earn the win. Pete Parise (10-6) went eight, surrendering two runs - one earned - on eight hits to suffer the loss. Kevin Fuqua worked the ninth to notch his 17th save.

The lone 'Dogs run came in the bottom of the fourth following a Matt Forgatch triple. Bryan Pounds drove him in with a sacrifice fly.

Lincoln stranded 11 runners on base, including seven in scoring position.

The Saltdogs remain two games behind Gary SouthShore for the wildcard lead, with 14 games left.

The clubs play the rubber match Sunday afternoon at 2:05 p.m. Radio coverage begins at 1:35 p.m. on KFOR 1240.
