St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (August 16, 2013) - The St. Paul Saints will be at home for an extended stay for the second time in as many weeks which may blow your mind, but make sure to keep your brain inside your skull or you may have some unwanted visitors. The Saints promise to have so many entertaining guests and comedic routines around the ballpark that it may feel like an episode of the Tonight Show. If you don't like something about it we suggest blaming the people to the north, but if that doesn't satisfy you we will just hand you money as you enter the stadium and let you do with it what you want. Make sure not to use the money for evil however, because some of America's greatest crime fighters will be in the area this weekend to help induct one of the best talent finders in baseball to the appropriate Hall of Fame. If that doesn't sound like a week to "pin" what does?

All of the fun begins on Monday, August 19 at 7:05 p.m. as the Saints welcome the Winnipeg Goldeyes to town for the first of four. The Saints hope that their chances of making the post-season are still alive and kicking unlike the thousands of undead visitors at Midway Stadium for the game on this night. It is the Fourth Annual Zombie Baseball Crawl presented by Savers. Some people prefer brains over brawn. Our slow-moving friends in attendance prefer brains over just about everything. We hope the special guests spend a little bit of extra time in front of the mirror before the game as there is expected to be a zombie beauty contest throughout the night. Also there will be a zombie race that may very well take the duration of the evening to complete. In addition, it is a Today's Country K102 Buck Beer Night featuring $1 beers all night long. That is enough to bring anyone back from the dead.

The good times continue on Tuesday, August 20 at 7:05 p.m. when the Saints and Goldeyes do battle once again. The Saints will try to make Winnipeg take it on the chin on Jay Leno Night. Be on the ball in the stands at all times, as you never know when you may be featured in our very own version of "jaywalking". Be aware, if you get up from your seat for even a second, someone may claim it as their own, only to decide to return it to you after a short time. Don't be alarmed, that is how it works in the business. If the two of you just can't get along consider taking them out to the parking lot and working out your issues over some of the Twin Cities best street food on a Food Truck Tuesday. Anchor Fish & Chips, Melch's Meat Wagon, and Motley Crews will all be at Midway Stadium serving great food prior to the game this week.

Can't stand the gravelly sound of Nickelback or anything about Justin Bieber, eh? There is only one possible course of action, blame the land where they came from. We will do just that on Blame Canada Day, presented by Minneapolis Media Institute, on Wednesday, August 21 at 7:05 p.m. It is appropriate that our friends from Winnipeg will be in town to take part in this special night. Should anything unsatisfactory happen during the course of the game you can conveniently blame the folks located in the visiting dugout along the first-base line. Come thirsty as you may have the opportunity to participate in a Canada Dry chugging contest on the field during the game! There is nobody to blame for the fact that it is Walser Wednesday. Come early and hungry to join in the craziest tailgate party in town featuring free hot dogs and water, music, and a chance to meet Saints players and coaches.

On Thursday, August 22 we will literally give you money just for attending our series-concluding game with Winnipeg. It is the Dollar Dance presented by Topline Federal Credit Union. The first 1,500 fans in attendance will receive $1 from TopLine. Fans who receive one of these dollars will then donate it to one of the 10 non-profit organizations in attendance set up inside the main gate. The goal of the event is to promote the importance of giving back to our community. The Saints and TopLine also encourage those who aren't one of the first 1,500 into the stadium to generously donate a dollar or more of their own to any of the non-profits on hand. Also, it is a Brew Pub Pizza Craft Beer Thursday with small batch beer at special prices throughout the evening.

The weekend begins with a BANG!, BOOM!, POW! on Friday, August 23 when the Saints welcome the Gary SouthShore RailCats back to town for a three-game weekend series. It is Comic Book Night as the first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a free pack of comic books upon entrance to the stadium. The team will wear special superhero uniforms on the field that will be auctioned off during the game. There will be various superheroes zooming around the ballpark thanks to Comic-Con. There are also the usual Friday Night Fireworks after the game presented by Xcel Energy. We have a special treat between the game and the fireworks as the Long Haul Bombers will continue their Stadium Power Tour around the country by holding a softball home run hitting contest on the field.

We will celebrate the men in baseball who work behind the scenes, but are usually the most important part of a franchise's long-term success on Saturday, August 24 when we induct another member into the Professional Baseball Scouts Hall of Fame, presented by Killebrew Root Beer. Every season, each franchise owned by the Goldklang Group inducts a different person into this Hall of Fame. Each inductee is then commemorated with a bronze plaque. This year's inductee will be John Mirabelli, Senior Director of Scouting Operations for the Cleveland Indians. There is also plenty of action on the field before the Saints and RailCats begin play. The semi-finals of the American Softball Association slow-pitch national championship will take place at Midway Stadium at 11:00 a.m and 2:00 p.m. with the national champion being crowned after the 5:00 title game. It is also a St. Croix Casino Big Money $aturday giving fans a chance to win up to $77,777.

The homestand reaches its' conclusion on Sunday, August 25 at 1:05 p.m. as the Saints and RailCats meet for the final time this season. It is Do-It-Yourself Day at Midway Stadium. Although, you may think you could hit a professional pitcher's fastball or strike out a professional hitter if given the chance, we suggest you let the players on the field handle those tasks. May we suggest trying a new way to do your hair, attempting to freshen stale bread with an ice cube, or anything else you can learn on the popular site Pinterest. That might be more up your alley. Also, it is a Savers Family Sunday, where kids can run the bases following the game and get autographs from the entire team!

Be sure to stagger your way down to Midway Stadium this week as we have a lineup of promotions that is to die for. If your week starts off on a sour note, join thousands of other folks at the ballpark to place the blame elsewhere and possibly even donate a dollar or two to charity to make you feel better. You don't need special powers to judge talent on the baseball field, but it does take a keen eye and a great deal of hard work so help us honor a master of the profession.

Tickets for all Saints regular season home games are available in person at the Saints Box Office, by phone at 651-644-6659 or online at saintsbaseball.com. Tickets for Saints regular season home games are $5 for general admission, $8 for outfield reserved and $12 for infield reserved. Tickets purchased on the Day of the Game are an additional $1 per ticket. Tickets to the September 1 Fireworks Super Show are an additional $3. Children under the age of 14 and seniors 65 and older receive $1 off the admission price. Children under 2 that don't require a seat are free.
