New York Boulders News Release

Paterson, NJ - The New York Boulders used a five-run top of the ninth inning to defeat the New Jersey Jackals, 5-1, in the series opener at Hinchliffe Stadium Friday night, extending their winning streak to four games.

The Boulders (34-28) left eight runners on base across the first eight innings, managing just five hits before coming alive in the ninth.

One night after his walk-off HR vs. Sussex County, 1B Christian Ficca smashed a game-tying single, while 2B Kyle Hess delivered a go-ahead sacrifice fly, and DH Jason Agresti put the cherry on top with a three-run blast over the left field fence.

RHP Blaine Traxel (ND / 5 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 BB, 2 K) made his season debut, hurling four scoreless innings after allowing an unearned run in the bottom of the first.

LHP Ethan Bradford combined with RHPs Nolan LaMere and Tyler Vail for four hitless frames (4 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 3 K) in relief of Traxel, with LaMere (2-0) picking up the win.

Also of note:

** It was the third straight game the Boulders scored their winning run(s) in the 9th inning

** New York is now a season-high six games over .500, 9-1 against the Jackals this season, and 6-1 during their current stretch of 9 straight games against New Jersey opponents

The Boulders conclude their series against New Jersey with a double header tomorrow (Saturday), with game one in Paterson scheduled for 5:00 PM EDT.
