Schaumburg Boomers News Release
SCHAUMBURG, Ill. - The 2013 Frontier League Champion Schaumburg Boomers, presented by Wintrust Community Banks, concluded the longest homestand of the season with a 6-1 loss to the Evansville Otters.
Schaumburg opened the scoring in the bottom of the first. Tony Delmonico smacked a double down the left field line to bring home Joe De Pinto with the only run of the game. Evansville immediately tied the score in the second and moved ahead with a pair of runs in the third. Evansville starter William Oliver worked eight innings, limiting the Boomers for the remainder of the game. Cal Bowling matched a season high with eight strikeouts and contributed a quality start but took the loss after tossing six innings. Schaumburg managed just six hits in the game, two each from Delmonico and Gerard Hall. The Boomers finished the homestand 5-4 but still own the top record in the league at home with a 31-11 mark and won the final two series of the stand.
Schaumburg (46-32) hits the road to begin a key three game series at Gateway on Friday night. LHP Anthony Gomez (0-0, 5.79) makes his first pro start in the 7:05 p.m. contest against RHP Ja'Vaun West (7-1, 3.67).
