Aviators' Hearts Broken in Extras

LOVES PARK, IL- The Rockford Aviators (32-46) presented by Pearson, battled back to force extras, but would fall to the Southern Illinois Miners (48-30), 6-3.

Kyle Hassna got the start for the Aviators, but once again, earned the no-decision. He pitched 5.2 innings, allowing seven hits, three runs, while striking out six Miners.

Tonight's game was a big night for Elijah Trail as he recorded his first professional hit, a double off the right field wall.

Michael Hur followed with a double of his own that scored Trail and gave the Aviators a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third inning.

Niko Vasquez hit a solo home run in the sixth that tied the game at 1-1.

With two outs in the top of the sixth inning, Matt Jones hit a big two-run single that increased the Miners lead to 3-1.

The Aviators cut into the lead in the seventh when Kalaika Kahoohalahala grounded into a double play, but Ryan Breen scored from third and the Aviators trimmed the lead to 3-2.

The Aviators were at it again in the bottom of the eight inning as Tanner Witt hit into a fielder's choice that scored Hur from third, as the Aviators tied the game at three.

Chris Burke hit a three-run home run in the top of the tenth that would serve to be the game winning hit as the Miners won 6-3.

The Aviators will begin their series with the Normal CornBelters tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.

Aviators fans in attendance will witness our second to last FIREWORKS show of the season, so you certainly don't want to miss it! Our friends at Power Connection will light up the sky with the best FIREWORKS show in the area immediately following the game!
