(Traverse City, MI) - Ian MacDougall (6-3) tossed eight strong innings and the Traverse City Beach Bums (32-46) knocked off the Florence Freedom (32-44) by a final score of 4-1 Thursday night.

The loss snapped the Freedom's three-game winning streak.

Florence took the early lead when Buddy Sosnoskie doubled down the left field line to lead-off the third. One out later Rolando Gomez singled him home to put the Freedom up 1-0.

But the Beach Bums rallied right away against Freedom starter Michael O'Neal (2-4) in the bottom of the third. Jake Rhodes drew a walk and Scott Woodward singled up the middle. A sacrifice bunt moved the runners over and Jeff DeBlieux hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game. Jose Vargas followed with a RBI double and the Beach Bums took a 2-1 lead.

They added another run in the fourth on a perfectly executed squeeze bunt by Josh Miller. A Jovan Rosa RBI single in the eighth provided another insurance run for the Beach Bums.

After the two hits in the third, the Freedom managed only one hit for the remainder of the game as MacDougall went eight innings, giving up one run on three hits, walking two and striking out two for the win. Will Rankin tossed a scoreless ninth for the save.

The Freedom return home Friday for a three-game series with the Joliet Slammers. Casey Henn (6-5, 3.02 ERA) takes the hill with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m.
