Evansville Otters News Release

(SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS) - The Evansville Otters (45-30) end a three-game road series against the Schaumburg Boomers (46-32) on Thursday night.

First pitch is set for 6:30 pm CDT at Boomers Stadium.

Fans not going to the game can listen live on WUEV 91.5 FM and WUEV.org . Play by play announcer Mike Radomski will have the call beginning at 6:15 pm CDT.

It is Halfway to V-Day and Thirsty Thursday at the ballpark.

Evansville will have RHP William Oliver (1-0, 4.77 ERA) on the mound against Schaumburg righty Cal Bowling (6-6, 5.75 ERA).

Oliver is making his second start with the Otters since signing with the team in early August.

The Otters have never been swept this season. A win on Thursday night would avoid that.

Evansville lost the series opener to Schaumburg 12-5 to last night. INF Shayne Houck hit his Frontier League best 20th home run of the year. The home run also passed Jeff Goldbach (2005) for most home runs hit in a single season in Otters history.

Evansville then lost the middle game of the series 6-1 on Wednesday afternoon. LHP Jose Velez delivered a quality start, going 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on three hits. Evansville pulled within a run with a Shayne Houck RBI single in the eighth but four Boomers runs in the bottom of the inning earned the series win for Schaumburg.

Schaumburg leads the all-time series 11-9 against Evansville. The Otters won two of three earlier this year at home against the Boomers.

The Otters had three players in the Frontier League All-Star game on July 16. 3B Shayne Houck started the contest going 2-for-2. Nik Balog pinch hit and played first base, going 0-for-1 with a walk. Josh Allen finished the night 0-for-2 as a defensive replacement and second baseman.

Houck is on a 14 game hitting streak for the Otters. Outfielder Jeremy Nowak (9) and John Schultz (8) also have extended hitting streaks as well.

The Otters are 20-15 on the road this season with the second best road winning percentage in the Frontier League (.571).
