Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins, in their 17th season in the American Hockey League, announced that left wing Mark Bomersback and defenseman Brett Motherwell have been released from their Professional Tryout Agreements. With the moves, the P-Bruins have 23 players on their roster, including 13 forwards, eight defensemen and two goaltenders.
Bomersback, 26, dressed in nine games for Providence, scoring one goal on October 19 at the Portland Pirates. The second-year forward, signed by the P-Bruins on October 8, spent last season between the AHL's Iowa Stars and the Idaho Steelheads of the ECHL. As a rookie, Bomersback combined for 22 goals and 46 points in 56 games. Prior to turning pro, the undrafted native of Rochester, Alberta, played four seasons for the Ferris State University Bulldogs, totaling 89 points (40g, 49a) in 136 contests.
Motherwell, 22, is in his second season after a rookie year split among three clubs. In 2007-08, Motherwell appeared in one collegiate game for the Boston College Eagles before going pro and playing for both the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL and the ECHL's Elmira Jackals. He spent the bulk of the season with Syracuse, dressing in 48 regular season games while totaling 16 points (2g, 14a) and 59 penalty minutes, in addition to registering two assists in 13 playoff games. He added two games for Elmira. Undrafted, Motherwell played parts of three seasons for the Eagles, earning 51 points (7g, 44a) in 82 contests.
