WISCONSIN RAPIDS, W.I.- The Bomber bats could not do any damage against Rafters starter Will Haberstock in a 4-0 loss to the Rafters.
Haberstock allowed just one hit, striking out four while walking two in a seven innings complete game. His outing was the first complete game performance by a Rafter this season. It was the fifth time the Bombers have been shut out this season and second time by the Rafters.
It was 1-0 going into the bottom of the sixth when the Rafters scored three runs on four hits. Two walks and a single given up by Payton Carney loaded the bases for Addie Burrow, who broke an 0-17 slump with a two-run single. Another run came home on a McKinley Erves RBI single which was a wrap on four straight singles given up by Carney.
The Rafters had eight hits with Erves and Reeve Holley each collecting two hits. The Bombers one hit came from Cristian Tejada in the top of the second.
The Bombers got a good start on the mound from Hunter Bedell. The righty allowed just one unearned run in four innings of work giving up just four hits striking out one. Bedell gave up his only run in the first when Trevor Patterson made a throwing error on a ground ball by Marco Castillo which allowed Holley to score.
The Bombers turned three double plays in the field. The defense helped Bedell in the fourth when Burrow flew out to left fielder Brady Held with runners on second and third. Held made the catch and then threw out Cael Chatham at the plate for the third out, keeping the score 1-0 at the time.
The Bombers have now lost four in a row while the Rafters have now won their last six games. Game two of the double header is set for 6:05 p.m.
