
Blues Recall Scatchard; Rivermen Ink McKenzie

St. Louis Blues Executive Vice President and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced today the club has recalled forward Dave Scatchard from the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, the Peoria Rivermen, on emergency basis. In a related move, the Rivermen have signed Jim McKenzie to a professional tryout contract.
McKenzie, 26, has 66 games of AHL experience over the past four seasons with Binghamton, Lake Erie and Worcester. This season he has appeared in 48 games for the Stockton Thunder (ECHL) and collected 22 points (nine goals, 13 assists) and 79 penalty minutes. The 6'2", 210-pound winger has also seen action in two AHL games with Worcester on Nov. 27-28.
Originally selected by the Ottawa Senators in the fourth round (#141 overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, McKenzie has dressed in 146 ECHL games since finishing his three-year career at Michigan State University. He was part of the 2007 NCAA national championship team at MSU in his final season.
Scatchard, 35, dressed in eight games for the Blues this season, tallying one assist, before injuring his knee in the Blues' 4-1 loss to San Jose on December 18. In 30 games with Peoria, the 6'3, 220-pound forward has recorded 13 points including four goals and nine assists.
The Hinton, Alberta native was signed by the Blues as a free agent on August 4, 2010.
The Rivermen travel to Chicago on Wednesday for the first of a two-game series with the Wolves at Allstate Arena. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. and the game can be heard locally on 96.5 ESPN in Peoria or online at www.rivermen.net.
