San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX - St. Louis Blues President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Doug Armstrong announced on Monday that the Blues have recalled defenseman Niko Mikkola from the San Antonio Rampage. Defenseman Jake Walman has been assigned to San Antonio.
Mikkola, 23, will join the Blues for the second time this season. He did not see game action during his first stint with the Blues in mid-December.
A fifth-round draft pick of the Blues in 2015, Mikkola is in his second season with the Rampage. The native of Kiiminki, Finland has posted two goals and 11 points in 30 games this season while serving as an assistant captain. Mikkola has totaled four goals and 20 points in 100 AHL games over the last two seasons, all with San Antonio.
Walman, 23, made his NHL debut with the Blues against the Vegas Golden Knights on Saturday, posting a plus-1 rating and logging one shot on goal in 11:04 of ice-time. A third-round Blues draft pick in 2014, Walman has posted four goals and 18 points in 32 games with the Rampage this season, along with a plus-1 rating.
In 164 career AHL games with the Rampage, Binghamton Devils, and Chicago Wolves, Walman has totaled 13 goals, 54 points, and 98 penalty minutes.
Walman became the third Rampage player to make his NHL debut with the Blues this season, joining Klim Kostin and Austin Poganski.
The Rampage continue their homestand on Friday night at the AT&T Center against the Chicago Wolves, with puck-drop scheduled for 7 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast on Ticket 760 and streamed on AHLTV. The 2019-20 Rampage season is presented by H-E-B.
