Blues Acquire Danny Richmond from Pittsburgh

PEORIA, Ill. (March 4, 2009) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today the club has acquired defenseman Danny Richmond from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for defenseman Andy Wozniewski.

Richmond, 24, has played in 55 games this season with the American Hockey League's (AHL) Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, recording 17 points (three goals, 14 assists) and 108 penalty minutes. Last season, the 6-0, 194-pound defenseman appeared in 40 games with the AHL's Rockford IceHogs, registering 14 points (two goals, 12 assists) and 156 penalty minutes. Richmond has played in 49 National Hockey League games, notching three assists and 75 penalty minutes.

The Chicago, Illinois native was originally drafted by Carolina in the 2nd round, 31st overall in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Richmond will report to the Blues' AHL affiliate Peoria Rivermen.

The Rivermen are home tonight to take on the Quad City Flames at 7:00p.m. It is Dollar Beer Night and $8 tickets are available in the Pilots' House.
