Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

HAGERSTOWN, MD - The Hagerstown Suns were one out away from a 5-3 win on May 27th, but the game was postponed because of a thunderstorm.

Tuesday the Suns (28-24) were once again one out from a win, but the BlueClaws (29-23) battled back and won 8-7 on a walk-off Leandro Castro solo shot to right-center field in the bottom of the 14th inning.

Action resumed where it was stopped on the 27th: with the BlueClaws batting in the bottom of the fifth inning with two outs. Lakewood wasted no time rallying for two runs to tie the game in the same inning on an RBI triple by Leandro Castro and an RBI single by Jeremy Barnes.

Luke Wertz held the Suns at bay through three solid innings to bring his total for the game to 4.2. Unfortunately for the BlueClaws Josh Zeid didn't have similar success in the ninth.

Zeid allowed two solo home runs; one to JP Ramirez and another to JR Higley, and Hagerstown took a 7-5 lead into the bottom of the ninth.

With their backs against the wall and down to their last three outs Lakewood responded to tie the game. Alan Schoenberger led off with a triple, and Jiwan James grounded out to second to bring in the run and make it a 7-6 game.

Castro then singled with two outs, and came home on a Jonathan SIngleton double to tie the game and force extra innings.

The BlueClaws finally won in the 14th in a rare walk- off win on the road, 8-7. The win moves the BlueClaws into sole possession of second place in the SAL North.

Ebelin Lugo (1-1) pitched three hitless innings for the win and Patrick Arnold (1-1) took the loss.

At 8:40 pm the originally scheduled game will be played between the two teams. BlueClaws starter Jarred Cosart (5-1, 3.12) will face Dan Rosenbaum (1- 1, 1.53).
