Jersey Shore BlueClaws News Release

CHARLESTON, WV - Shane Carle gave up a run over seven innings and West Virginia topped the BlueClaws 6-2 on Friday night, handing the BlueClaws their 6th straight loss.

Lakewood's lone win in the second half (1-8/28-50) came against West Virginia on Saturday, but the Power (7-2/27-50) have now won four of five against the BlueCalws after the All-Star break.

The BlueClaws, down 2-0, tied the game in the 4th inning on a two-run home run by Andrew Knapp, his 2nd with Lakewood and 7th as a professional, but that was all Lakewood could muster against Carle (2-5), who has allowed four earned runs in 20 innings against the BlueClaws this year.

The Power took the lead for good in the bottom of the 4th inning, scoring two on a base hit by Jeff Roy to score Chris Diaz with the second run coming in on a fielding error by centerfielder Dylan Cozens.

West Virginia added a run in the 6th and another in the 8th.

Andrew Pullin had an 8th inning single to extend his hitting streak to 10. It is the 5th 10-game hitting streak for Lakewood this year (two each for Willians Astudillo and JP Crawford - with Astudillo's 18 game hitting streak the longest on the team this year).

Lakewood starter Ranfi Casimiro (2-6) gave up five runs/four earned in 4.2 innings and tied the franchise record with seven walks. Scott Harris retired all seven hitters he faced in relief and Chris O'Hare allowed a run in the 8th.

The four-game series continues on Saturday night. RHP Tyler Viza (2-10, 5.40) throws for Lakewood opposite RHP Dovydas Neverauskas (3-6, 6.45). First pitch is at 7:05.
