
The Briceno and Patterson Show Rolls On

Asheville, NC--Jose Briceno and Jordan Patterson capped off a phenomenal performance in the Asheville Tourists series against the Greenville Drive by both putting together another great night at the plate. Briceno had four hits and Patterson added three more in Asheville's series clinching 9-4 win over Greenville on Thursday night.
Despite the Drive taking an early 2-0 lead on Zach Kapstein's two run single in the second inning, the Tourists never wavered. Asheville tied the game at two with a pair of runs in the bottom of the second. Briceno put the Tourists on the board with an RBI single and David Dahl added a sacrifice fly.
The two teams exchanged runs in the third. Tim Roberson hit a solo Home Run off of Alex Balog but the Tourists countered with a two-out RBI double off the bat of Wilfredo Rodriguez. In the fourth, the home team took control. Asheville plated three runs; two on Ryan McMahon's single to left-center. Then Patterson scored McMahon with a double to right.
In the sixth inning, once again it was Patterson scoring McMahon with an RBI base hit; this time a single to center did the trick. Leading 7-3, the Tourists tacked on a pair of runs in the eighth. Rodriguez hit a sac fly to score Correlle Prime and Briceno followed with an RBI double for good measure. Greenville managed one in the top of the ninth but the Tourists never felt pressured.
Briceno finished the series 9-for-14 with a Home Run, four doubles, three runs scored, and six RBIs. Patterson went 8-for-15 with a Home Run, four doubles, seven runs scored, five RBIs, and three walks. He also added a stolen base.
The Tourists won the final three games of the series and their overall record currently sits a season-high 19 games over. 500. Asheville has started the second half with seven wins in their first eight games. A serious test waits as the Greensboro Grasshoppers, first half champions of the Northern division, arrive at McCormick Field on Friday to face the Tourists for the first time this season. The first pitch is scheduled for 7:05pm.
