Fifth Round Selection Diaz Joins Team

The Rome Braves announce that LHP Chris Diaz has joined the team and is slated to start tonight against the Savannah Sand Gnats. Diaz is the 5th round selection by the Braves out of the University of Miami. He had an outstanding collegiate career and became the Hurricanes' ace during his 2013 sophomore season and competed with the U.S. National team this past summer. Diaz went 9-1 with a 2.41 ERA in 16 starts this season and recorded 86 strikeouts while allowing just 41 walks in 101 innings of work. Opponents hit .236 against him. The roster is at 25 players.

Rome continues their road trip tonight in Savannah and returns on Tuesday to begin a short three game home stand against the Augusta Greenjackets.
