Blue Jays Select Contract of Bisons INF Andy Burns

The Toronto Blue Jays today announced that they have purchased the contract of Buffalo Bisons INF ANDY BURNS and optioned RHP RYAN TEPERA to the Herd. Burns will be making his Major League debut with Toronto.

Burns has played in all 27 of the Bisons games this season, hitting .250 with two home runs, 10 RBI and three stolen bases. He is also tied for first in the International League in doubles with nine doubles and leads the Bisons with nine multi-hit performances. The versatile player has already started at five different positions this year (2B (9G), 3B (5G), SS (3G), LF (9G), RF (1G)).

Burns spent most of 2015 with the Bisons and hit .293 with 26 doubles, four home runs and 45 RBI in 126 games. He ranked sixth in the International League last year with 140 base hits and 10th with a .351 on-base pct. Last season, he played every defensive position for the Bisons except catcher and centerfield.

Tepera is 0-1 with a 7.27 ERA and two saves in eight appearances with the Bisons this season (8.2 IP). He allowed two runs over a pair of outings (2.0 IP) with the Blue Jays since his recall on April 27.
