INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The Louisville Bats defeated the Indianapolis Indians, 6-1, in extra innings on Friday night at Victory Field. A grand slam by center fielder Steve Selsky capped off a five-run 12th inning as the Bats won their ninth straight road game. The nine-game road winning streak is the longest since Louisville won 11 straight from May 28 to June 18, 2006.

The Selsky grand slam was the first by a Bats player since Chris Dominguez on April 18 of last season.

Bats first baseman Brandon Allen hit his first home run of the season giving the Bats the 1-0 lead in the second inning. The solo shot was his 195th of his minor league career, leading all active players.

The Indians only run tied the game in the bottom of the seventh when Indians catcher Jacob Stalling recorded an RBI double scoring Danny Ortiz off Bats right-hander Dayan Diaz.

Louisville right-hander A.J. Morris (0-1, 1.93) started for the fourth time this season and pitched five innings, gave up five hits and tallied four strikeouts, but did not get a decision for the sixth time this season.

Layne Somsen entered with one out in the seventh inning and got the Bats to extras with two and two-thirds innings of hitless baseball with two strikeouts. The win eventually went to righty Tim Melville (1-1, 6.00) who pitched two scoreless innings in the 10th and 11th. He earned the win after the Bats scored five runs in the top of the 12th.

Indianapolis starter, right-hander Chad Kuhl (2-0, 1.35) pitched six innings, ringing in four strikeouts but giving up two hits including the one home run by Allen, and was taken off the ledger when the Indians tied the game. Righty Trey Haley (0-3, 10.32) suffered the loss after allowing five runs in the top of the 12th.

The Bats look to continue the winning streak against the Indians tomorrow at 7:05 p.m. with Bats left-hander Cody Reed (2-0, 1.62) taking the mound against Indians right-hander Tyler Glasnow (2-1, 2.08).
