Chiefs Homer Twice for Second Straight Day, Shut out Bisons

Buffalo, NY - The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Buffalo Bisons, 5-0, Friday night at Coca-Cola Field. Matt Skole and Pedro Severino each homered as the Chiefs won for the 11th time in their last 13th games.

Syracuse (17-10) got on the board in the fifth inning. Severino extended his hitting streak to six with a double to lead of the inning. He moved to third on a groundout and scored on Trea Turner's sacrifice fly to give the Chiefs a 1-0 lead.

Buffalo (11-17) was held off the board by Aaron Laffey in six scoreless innings. The Chiefs starter allowed just two hits, walked two and struck out four.

The Chiefs used a late rally to break the game open for the second day in a row. Turner knocked his third hit of the game to start the eighth inning off Pat Venditte. After a strikeout, Scott Sizemore walked to put two runners on. Skole followed with his second home run in as many days and third of the season, clearing the picnic area in right field to give the Chiefs a 4-0 lead.

Syracuse added to lead in the ninth on Severino's first home run of the year to extend the lead to 5-0.

Matt Grace, Nick Masset and Rafael Martin combined to throw the final three innings out of the bullpen without a run around. The win marked the Chiefs' third shutout in seven games.

Syracuse looks to clinch the series win on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. Paolo Espino is scheduled to start for the Chiefs opposite Wade LeBlanc for the Bisons.
