
Flurry of Roster Moves Announced

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - Outfielder Jason Coats, who is currently leading the International League in batting average with an impressive .364 mark, has been activated from the Charlotte Knights disabled list, along with infielder/outfielder Leury Garcia. In two other roster moves, infielder Marcus Lemon has been assigned to Double-A Birmingham, while RHP Erik Johnson will re-join the Knights after being optioned back from Chicago last night. Charlotte's roster is set at 25 active players.
Coats was placed on Charlotte's disabled list on April 25. The TCU standout, who was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 29th round of the 2012 draft, is hitting .364 (24-for-66) with nine runs scored, five doubles, one triple, two home runs, and nine RBIs over 17 games this season with Charlotte. The 26-year-old hit .270 (132-for-489) with 17 home runs and 81 RBIs with the Knights last year (122 games).
Garcia, 25, was placed on Charlotte's disabled list on April 29 (retroactive to April 28). He is hitting .275 (14-for-51) with seven runs scored, two doubles, one home run, five RBIs, and five stolen bases over 16 games with the Knights this season.
Lemon, 27, was promoted to Charlotte from Birmingham on April 29 and hit .067 (1-for-15) with one double and one RBI over five games with the Knights. He is hitting .273 (9-for-33) with Birmingham in nine games this year.
Johnson, 26, is 1-1 with a 3.74 ERA over four starts (21.2 IP) with the Charlotte Knights this season. He was recalled to Chicago yesterday and suffered the loss in his season debut last night after allowing four runs on eight hits over five innings pitched with the White Sox.
The Knights will open a three-game series against the Gwinnett Braves tonight at 7:05 p.m. from Coolray Field in Lawrenceville, GA. Pre-game radio coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN 730 AM and CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad will have the call for all of the action. The Knights return home to BB&T Ballpark on Friday, May 13 to open a six-game homestand.
