
Blades Swing Trade with Victoria; Tifu Reassigned from AHL

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades president and general manager Craig Brush along with head coach Malcolm Cameron announced today that the club has traded defenseman Aaron Brocklehurst to the Victoria Salmon Kings for forward Milan Gajic. In addition forward Yannick Tifu has been reassigned to the club by the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League.
Gajic (pronounced: ME-lahn GUY-sh) comes to the Everblades after playing in four games with the Salmon Kings this season where he collected one assist. The 27-year-old began the 2008-09 season in Denmark playing with the Nordsjaelland Cobras before returning to North America.
Gajic, a native of Burnaby, British Columbia, has spent the previous two seasons in the ECHL with the Salmon Kings and has also seen time in the AHL with the Manitoba Moose and Houston Aeros in that span. Last season the former 4th round draft pick of the Atlanta Thrashers in 2001, tallied 40 points (15g, 25a) in 35 games with Victoria and notched a total of 14 points in 27 AHL games between Manitoba and Houston.
Gajic began his professional career in 2005-06 splitting time between the Providence Bruins of the AHL and the Gwinnett Gladiators in the ECHL.
Gajic's best professional season came in 2006-07 when he recorded 65 points (24g, 41a) in 63 games with the Salmon Kings. In his rookie campaign with the Gladiators, Gajic amassed 58 points (25g, 33a) in 41 regular season games and led Gwinnett with 19 points in 17 Kelly Cup Playoff games while helping lead the Gladiators to the Kelly Cup Finals. As a pro, Gajic has 184 points 193 career games.
Prior to turning pro Gajic completed a four-year collegiate career at the University of Michigan when he notched 115 points in 158 career games from 2001-2005. During his tenure at Michigan he helped the Wolverines reach the Frozen Four in back to back seasons in 2002 & 2003.
Brocklehurst, who was one of three Everblades representatives in the 2009 ECHL All-Star Game, heads to Victoria having collected 20 points (4g, 16a) in 37 games. The 23-year-old rookie is a native of Nanaimo, BC.
Also returning to the Everblades is Tifu who saw action in six games during his most recent stint with the River Rats, during which he tallied six assists. Overall this year the 24-year-old has played in 15 total games with Albany registering no goals and six assists. Tifu returns to the Everblades where he has picked up 28 points (6g, 22a) in 20 games.
