Blades Defeat Warriors 10-1
January 10, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
One night after dropping an overtime decision to the Wheat Kings, the Blades netted a season high 10 goals against the Moose Jaw Warriors.
The Blades exploded out of the gates in the first period as Curtis Hamilton, Burke Gallimore, Adam Chorneyko (2), Travis Toomey, Derek Hulak, and Gaelan Patterson (shorthanded penalty shot) all scored. The score after the first period was 7-0 for the Bridge City Bunch. The shots were 12-9 in favour of the Blades. The game took a nasty turn after Josh Nicholls made a nice hit which resulted in 3 fights breaking out. Colin Joe and Darian Dziurzynski received game misconducts for the multiple fight situation.
The second period was less eventful as Milan Kytnar scored the lone goal to give the Blades an 8-0 lead heading into the third period. Hamilton and Kytnar both added their second goals of the night in the third period, while Moose Jaw finally solved Adam Morrison when Dylan McIlrath found the back of the net. The game would end at a 10-1 final for the Blades.
The Blades now embark on a 4 game road swing, with visits to Regina, Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, and Kootenay. Their next home game is January 21st when the Brandon Wheat Kings visit CUC.
