Americans Double Up Hawks 6-3

Kennewick, WA - The Tri City Americans got two goals from Johnny Lazo and doubled up the Portland Winter Hawks by a score of 6-3 in front of 4,957 at the Toyota Center in Kennewick, WA, on Saturday night.

The Americans got single goals from Petr Stoklasa, Jason Reese, Brett Plouffe and Taylor Procyshen in the win. Two of the goals, from Lazo and Plouffe, were scored on the power play.

Portland got even strength goals from Radim Valchar and Oliver Gabriel and a power play goal from Troy Rutkowski.

In net, Portland goaltender Ian Curtis stopped 47 of 53 shots in the loss while Brett Martyniuk started and stopped 7 of 10 shots in two periods before giving way to Drew Owsley, who handled all nine shots he faced as the Americans out-shot the Winter Hawks 53-19.

On special teams, Portland went 1 for 6 on the power play while Tri City finished 2 for 9.

Next up, the Hawks return home to take on the Everett Silvertips at 5:00 at the Memorial Coliseum on Sunday night.
