Spokane Chiefs News Release
The Spokane Chiefs have reassigned three players to their respective junior teams, including forward Mike Betz who has been reassigned to the Sicamous Eagles of the KIJHL. Betz had played 30 games through the first half of the season with Spokane.
Anthony Bardaro has been reassigned to the Surrey Eagles of the BCHL. Bardaro had one assist in six games with the Chiefs and Spokane has also reassigned 18-year-old goaltender Alex Wright to Prince George of the BCHL. Wright made one appearance with five saves in a little over 13-minutes of work on December 31st at Tri-City.
Otherwise, the Chiefs roster remained the same on the WHL's trade deadline.
"It was an interesting process," Chiefs General Manager Tim Speltz said about the time leading up to the 2:00 pm deadline. "At the end of the day, we have added to our team in Brady Calla and Ondøej Roman and we believe those additions will help us in the stretch run and playoff drive.
"With Mike Betz, as an organization we always try to look at the development first and foremost with young players. We felt we needed to return Mike to a level where he could use his strengths and consequently be a better player for us next season," Speltz said.
"We appreciate the contributions Alex and Anthony provided to us when we were missing a number of our regular roster players over the holidays," he finished.
The Chiefs will host the Everett Silvertips on Saturday night on the Chiefs Championship Jersey Giveaway Presented by Miller Brewing Company, 93.7 the Cat and KAYU Fox 28.
Saturday night will also mark the Chiefs debut of Calla, the 20-year-old forward who was acquired from the Kamloops Blazers on Wednesday night. Drayson Bowman will also return to the line-up after a short break following his appearance with the U.S. National Junior team. Bowman missed seven games in total. Goaltender Dustin Tokarski is still away and won't return to the line-up until next week after winning a gold medal for Team Canada at the World Juniors.
Due to a conflict, tonight's game will be heard live on 790 KJRB beginning at 6:30 with Comcast Hockey Tonight.
Tickets to all home games are available by calling the Chiefs ticket office at (509) 535-PUCK or TicketsWest at (800) 325-SEAT.
