Blades Capture Fifth Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy in Franchise History
March 23, 2024 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
REGULAR SEASON CHAMPS: It's one thing to set goals you want to accomplish, but it's another to stick with it and say you achieved it. The Saskatoon Blades checked off another monumental goal set out at the start of the season with a 5-1-win Friday at the Art Hauser Centre against the Prince Albert Raiders.
The Bridge City Bunch captured the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as the top regular season team in the WHL. It's the fifth time in franchise history the club has finished first place at the end of the regular season. Saskatoon sits at 103 points with a 49-13-2-3 record, making it the first time in franchise history to go back-to-back seasons with 100+ points.
Thanks to a Calgary Hitmen loss in regulation to the Swift Current Broncos on Friday, the Blades and Raiders will see each other plenty as Round 1 opponents in the WHL playoffs. The Raiders locked up the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, setting a collision course between the two Central Saskatchewan rivals.
Tomorrow night is a rematch between the Highway 11 clubs at SaskTel Centre for the Blades' Fan Appreciation Night. You'll want to rethink about waiting until the last minute to purchase your tickets as the contest is trending towards a sellout with more than 11,000 tickets sold.
Join us as we dedicate a full game to the best fans in the WHL with plenty of giveaways. Doors open at 5:30pm and the first 300 people through the doors will receive a free Trevor Wong bobblehead.
