
Pats Conclude Home Schedule with Tight Loss to Wheat Kings

Regina, Sask. - The Regina Pats wrapped up their home schedule with a 3-2 loss to the Brandon Wheat Kings on Friday in front of a season-high crowd of 5514.
The game was held scoreless in the late portions of the second period when Nolan Flamand opened the scoring. The Wheat Kings lead would not last too long as Sam Oremba tied the contest at one going into the third.
In the final stanza, after the Pats took a 2-1 lead, the Wheat Kings tied the game seconds after and later took the 3-2 lead with under seven minutes to play.
Oremba finished the game with two goals, picking up his fifth multi-goal game of the season. Ewan Huet got the start, allowing three goals on 28 shots.
For Brandon, Ethan Eskit was the difference, stopping countless Pats grade-A chances as he finished the night with 30 saves for his ninth victory of the season. Flamand, Nicolas Johnson and Joby Beaumuller (GWG) scored the Wheat Kings goals as they closed out their regular season with a three-game winning-streak and a 33-28-6-1 record with 73 points.

1-0 Wheat Kings at 12:42 - Nolan Flamand (20), assisted by Caleb Hadland // Hadland's shot is stopped by Huet but the rebound popped out to Flamand who found the back of the net to give the Wheat Kings a 1-0 lead.
1-1 Pats at 16:24 - Sam Oremba (21), unassisted // Oremba got away on a partial breakaway and he wired it by Eskit to tie the game up at 1-1.
Third Period
2-1 Pats at 12:07 - Sam Oremba (22), assisted by Tanner Howe & Ty Gibson (PP) // Howe fired a pass to the slot and Oremba had his stick on the ice and redirected the puck past Eskit to give the Pats a 2-1 lead.
2-2 Wheat Kings at 12:22 - Nicholas Johnson (7), assisted by Jayden Wiens & Brett Hyland // The Wheat Kings got a mini two-on-one and Johnson was able to capitalize just 15 seconds after the Pats took the lead to tie it up again.
3-2 Wheat Kings at 14:52 - Joby Baumuller (5), assisted by Dominik Petr (PP) // The Pats failed to clear the puck and Baumuller picked it up in the left circle and fired a shot over Huet's blocker to give the Wheat Kings the lead.

Tanner Howe grabbed an assist, tying his career-high of assists in a season with 49. He has four points (2G-2A) in his last four games.
Sam Oremba ended a seven-game goalless and five-game pointless streak with his 21st and 22nd goals of the season.
Ty Gibson picked up an assist and has points in three straight games.
