West Virginia Black Bears News Release
The West Virginia Black Bears won two of three games against the Lowell Spinners at LeLacheur Park to claim the series win. On Wednesday, West Virginia dropped the first game of series 4-1, before winning Thursday's game 12-3 and 3-0 on Friday. The Black Bears offense erupted for 12 runs in the second game of the series, led by OF Logan Hill who collected 4 RBI.
July 8 - Black Bears fall to Spinners on first game of road trip
The West Virginia offense was pretty quiet in Wednesday's matchup as RF Logan Hill had the only extra-base hit for the Black Bears. The team got its only run of the game on a wild pitch in the sixth inning, scoring SS Kevin Newman, who had reached earlier in the inning on a single. SP Hector Garcia (1-2) took the loss after he tossed 4.1 innings and allowed 3 runs (all earned) with four strikeouts.
July 9 - Hill goes yard and collects 4 RBI as the Black Bears earn 12-3 victory over Lowell
The Spinners jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning but after the Black Bears erupted for seven runs in the second, there was no looking back. RF Logan Hill collected 4 RBI and knocked his second home run and first grand slam of the season while C Daniel Arribas went 3-for-5 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored in the strong offensive showing on Thursday. LF Alexis Bastardo went a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and a RBI from the box. SP Jonathan Brubaker picked up his first win of the season (1-3) after a strong 5.0 innings pitched, allowing only one run and one hit with five strikeouts.
July 10 - Black Bears shut down Spinners to win finale 3-0
The Black Bears claimed the series win against the Spinners after pitchers Bret Helton (1-3), Nick Hibbing, Jonathan Minier, and Sean Keselica combined for the first shutout in Black Bears history. 1B Albert Baur led the way offensively for West Virginia by going 2-for-3 with an RBI while 2B Ulises Montilla collected a two-run single to help propel the Black Bears to victory.

The Black Bears continue their road trip on Saturday, July 11 as they being a series with the Vermont Lake Monsters at Centennial Field with a first pitch slated for 7:05 p.m.
