Buffalo Bisons News Release

The Bisons fell to the Stripers, 4-2, Thursday night In Gwinnett as the Herd was unable to come back from an early deficit.

Danny Santana hit a two-run home run as a part of a three-run third inning to put the Stripers ahead. Gwinnett added an insurance run in the fifth which put the Herd in too deep a hole to overcome. Six of the nine hits the Stripers tallied in the game went for extra-bases.

Billy McKinney, who has been on a tear as of late, helped the Herd narrow the gap to just a run in the fifth. However, the comeback attempt proved unsuccessful.

McKinney reached base on an error to lead off the inning and scored on a sacrifice fly by Reese McGuire after Tim Lopes moved him into scoring position on a single. Darnell Sweeney sent a fly ball deep enough for a second consecutive sacrifice fly in the frame, moving the score to 3-2.

The Buffalo offense stagnated from there and the Bisons only collected two hits in their final four turns at the plate while failing to put a runner in scoring position.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had a multi-hit game. He recorded a pair of singles - one in the first and one in the sixth to keep his average north of .350. He also reached base on a walk. Tim Lopes also had two singles in a game that the Bisons could only muster four total hits as a team.
