Today's Game
The Bison's seven-game road trip through the IL South will continue today as the Herd takes on the Gwinnett Stripers for a four-game set. The series will close out the season series against Gwinnett. Buffalo will have a scheduled off-day on Monday before returning home for their final homestand of the 2018 season to face division rivals Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (August 21-23) and Pawtucket Red Sox (August 24-27).
Last Game: BUF 4, CHA 2
The Bisons successfully completed their sweep of Charlotte on Wednesday night with a 4-2 win. LHP Matt Tracy earned his first win in a Bisons uniform tossing five scoreless innings while striking out six. OF Billy McKinney did his part in last night's win, hitting his third home run in as many days. OF Jonathan Davis had an RBI double in the second inning, which would end up being the game-winning run. C Michael De La Cruz also contributed to the offensive effort with a triple.
Gwinnett (1-2)
The Bisons and Stripers are meeting for their final series of the season. Gwinnett took two of three that last time these two played, a series spanning August 7-9 at Coca-Cola Field. The Bisons go into this four game series look to win their first season series against the Stripers in over five years.
Today's Starter: RHP Brandon Cumpton
RHP Brandon Cumpton heads to the mound tonight looking to pick up his third win of the season. Cumpton has been solid on the road this season, posting a 3.55ERA over 12.2 innings (4G/2GS).
Jonathan Davis
OF Jonathan Davis went 2-5 in last night's victory, hitting an RBI double in the top of the second that would later prove to be the game-winner. Davis showed his speed on the base paths, stealing his seventh base of the season. The outfielder is hitting .300 (6-20) over his last four games.
Rowdy Tellez
1B Rowdy Tellez continued his hot hitting, picking up his 29th multi-hit game of the season last night (2-3, RBI, BB). The first basemen leads the Herd in hits, doubles and home runs. Tellez has been impressive post-All Star break, hitting .343AVG 7HR 17RBI with a .392OBP while playing good defense.
Billy McKinney
OF Billy McKinney launched his third home run in as many games last night, propelling the Herd to their third straight victory. McKinney is hitting .364 over his last three games and will looks to continue his hot hitting tonight against Gwinnett.
Bisons' Bits
The Herd is 10-11 against the IL South in 2018...While going 4-2 against Charlotte, Buffalo was just 2-5 against Durham...The Bisons have a +1 run differential heading into tonight. Their best inning is the third, where they have scored 82 runs.
Blue Jays Update
Toronto (55-65) took the third game of the series against the Royals with a 6-5 win. RHP Marco Estrada threw 6.2IP and earned the win. The Blue Jays received most of their runs from a 4th inning grand slam of the bat of OF Curtis Granderson. Toronto will close out their series against the Royals tonight, sending RHP Sam Gaviglio to the mound (8:15 p.m.). After completing their four-game series against the Royals, the Jays will head to the Bronx to complete their road trip with a three-game series against the Yankees.
