Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release
Moosic, Pa. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (Triple-A/New York Yankees) fell to the visiting Buffalo Bisons 4-2 in front of a sellout crowd on Saturday night at PNC Field. The Bisons (40-42) have won three straight over the RailRiders (45-38).
Scott Copeland (5-1) limited the RailRiders to a pair of runs over seven innings for the win. After retiring 11 straight, Jose De Paula (2-2) allowed the three, deciding runs in the fifth. The southpaw finished after five innings, allowing four runs on six hits. Gregory Infante hurled a perfect ninth for his fifth save.
Trailing 1-0 in the second, the RailRiders tied the game on some heads-up base running. With two out, Nick Noonan stole second base and Cole Figueroa seized a chance by swiping home. Taylor Dugas followed with a single to center that scored Noonan for a 2-1 lead.
The Bisons plated three with one away in the fifth off De Paula. Buffalo used four hits, including a double by Melky Mesa. Jonathan Diaz followed with a run-scoring single for what proved the game-winner.
Austin Romine finished the night 0-for-4, snapping the International League's longest hitting streak at 19 games. Aaron Judge also finished hitless to end a six-game hitting streak.
The home series against the Buffalo Bisons (Toronto Blue Jays) continues on Sunday with a day-night doubleheader that features separate nine-inning games at 1:05 p.m. and 7:05 p.m. The first 2,500 fans in attendance for the Sunday nightcap will receive a Rob Refsnyder bobblehead, presented by Keystone Sanitary Landfill.
