
Bats Lit up Scoreboard on Fourth of July Win

INDIANAPOLIS Ind. - The Louisville Bats (41-42) had plenty of offense to win game one of a split six-game series against the Indianapolis Indians (49-34) by the score of 9-2 on Saturday night at Victory Park. Louisville picked up 15 hits on the night and had five players with multiple hits in the game.
Louisville struck first in the second inning. To lead things off, Josh Satin hit a double and Brennan Boesch hit a single which extended his hitting streak to 12 games. Yorman Rodriguez then hit a three run homerun to give the Bats a 3-0 lead.
The Bats added a couple more in the third inning after Kristopher Negron walked and then scored after Hernan Iribarren hit a home run to center field.
Indianapolis' Corey Hart hit a solo home run to left center field in the fourth inning to get the Indians on the board. In the fifth inning, Indianapolis scored another run after back-to-back singles were hit by Gift Ngoepe and Adrian Sampson before another single by Alen Hanson brought in Ngoepe to make it a 5-2 ballgame.
The Bats picked up four more runs in the seventh after they picked up a double, four singles, and a pair of walks. The Bats brought ten hitters to the plate in the long inning. The four run inning would be the final runs of the game.
Offensively for the Bats, Boesch was 3-for-5, Iribarren was 2-for-4 with 3 RBI, Satin was 2-for-4 with one RBI, Cabrera was 2-for-4, and Rodriguez was 2-for-5 with 3 RBI.
For Indianapolis, pitcher Adrian Sampson, was the only Indian to have more than one hit as he was 2-for-2 on the night.
Dylan Axelrod (6-5) picked up the win for Louisville. Axelrod pitched six innings. He gave up six hits, two earned runs, and two walks while striking out five batters.
Sampson (6-7) suffered the loss for the Indians. Sampson threw six and one-thirds innings. He gave up nine hits, five earned runs, and two walks while striking out two.
The Bats will play game two of the split six-game series on Sunday at 6:05 PM at Victory Field. Expected to start for Louisville is righty Raisel Iglesias (1-2, 3.33). For the Indians, right-handed pitcher Angel Sanchez (2-0, 3.50) will be on the mound.
