TODAY'S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons face the Louisville Bats in the second game of a four-game series from Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). Buffalo lost to Louisville last night by a score of 5-3. Buffalo has now lost a season-worst seven straight games. The Bisons are 19-18 at Coca-Cola Field this season.
vs. BATS: The Bisons are 0-1 against Louisville this season. In 2011, the Herd went 4-4 against the Bats after splitting each series in Buffalo and Louisville. Since their return to the International League in 1998, the Bisons are 60-53 (.5361) overall against the Bats and are 34-23 (.596) at Coca-Cola Field.
OLSON: LHP GARRETT OLSON takes the hill today for his 16th start of the season. He is one of five pitchers in the IL with 16 starts this season, matching teammates RHP Matt Harvey and RHP Jeurys Familia. The southpaw is coming off a no-decision in Norfolk (5.0IP, 1ER, 4K). Olson is second on the Bisons in innings pitched (73.1) and strikeouts (69). Overall, he is 2-4 with a 4.79ERA.
SILKY: INF JOSH SATIN extended his hit streak to six games last night and has reached base 18 times during the stretch. The infielder went 2-4 yesterday and has a team-high 20 multi-hit performances in 2012. Since June 21, Satin has hit .619 (13-21) with four walks and a .655 on-base percentage.
J-ROD: INF JOSH RODRIGUEZ had two more hits in last night's contest. Since joining the Herd on June 21, the infielder has hit .333 (6-18) in four games. In 57 games with Double-A Binghamton this season, Rodriguez hit .290 (62-214) with 5HR and 29RBI.
BISONS BITS: The International League will announce its All-Star roster at noon today...The Bisons seven-game losing streak is their longest since they lost seven straight, June 7-13, 2010...Since June 17, OF RAUL REYES has hit .429 (12-28) in eight games and has raised his average from .179 to .253 during that span...INF VALENTINO PASCUCCI is tied for second in the International League with 57 walks...OF FRED LEWIS is tied for second in the IL with six triples.
METS UPDATE : The Mets (39-36) lost to the Cubs last night by a score of 5-3. Former Bison C JOSH THOLE went 2-4 with a run scored and an RBI. RHP DILLON GEE tossed 6.0 innings in the loss (4ER, 6K) and also drove in a run to help his own cause. LHP JON NIESE takes the mound this afternoon from Wrigley Field (2:20 p.m.).
