LAWRENCEVILLE, GA. - Gwinnett Braves pitcher Cory Gearrin and first baseman Ernesto Mejia have been named to the 25th Triple-A All-Star Game in an announcement released by the International League on Wednesday, June 27. Gearrin was one of 17 players selected by the IL office, while Mejia was one of 13 players elected in a process including votes from each club's field manager and general manager, members of the media and online fan voting.

Gearrin and Mejia will represent Gwinnett and the IL as well in the annual battle with the All-Stars of the Pacific Coast League, scheduled for Wednesday, July 11 at Coca-Cola Field in Buffalo, NY. The 7:00 PM ET game will be broadcast live on MLB Network, the American Forces Network and the Triple-A All-Star Game Radio Network.

Gearrin, 26, is a Triple-A All-Star for the first time in his third season with the G-Braves. The right-hander is 3-0 with a bullpen-best 1.34 ERA (6 ER in 40.1 IP) in 25 relief outings for Gwinnett this season. He leads the team in saves (7 in 8 chances) and lowest opponent average (.169), while also ranking among International League relief leaders in lowest opponent average (3rd) and fewest baserunners per 9.0 IP ratio (4th, 8.48). Selected by Atlanta in the fourth round of the 2007 draft, Gearrin has also pitched in the Major Leagues for the Braves this season, going 0-0 with a 3.38 ERA in two appearances.

Mejia, 26, makes the Triple-A All-Star Game in his first season at the level. A Post-Season All-Star after leading the Double-A Southern League with 99 RBIs a year ago, Mejia has been one of the International League's top hitters this season. The slugging first baseman ranks fourth in the IL in batting average with a .311 mark, while also ranking among IL leaders in hits (T-1st, 87), RBIs (3rd, 52), total bases (3rd, 154), extra-base hits (4th, 36), doubles (7th, 20), home runs (7th, 15), slugging percentage (7th, .550) and OPS (8th, .919). Mejia was named the IL's Batter of the Week on May 21 after hitting .464 with a home run and seven RBIs in seven games that week.

Gearrin, Mejia and the rest of the Gwinnett Braves (37-43) take on the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (42-37) in game two of a four-game series at Frontier Field in Rochester, NY on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM. Left-hander Yohan Flande (3-6, 3.87) is scheduled to start for the G-Braves against right-hander Ramon Ortiz (6-3, 2.98) of the Yankees. The broadcast will air on WDUN 550 AM and 102.9 FM in Gainesville, GA with Tony Schiavone calling the play-by-play.
