Today's Game

Tonight, the Bisons are in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre for the first game of a four-game set against the RailRiders at PNC Field (6:35 p.m.). The Herd is coming off a 1-3 homestand that ended with a two-game sweep by the Red Sox. This seven-game road swing includes a three-game set in Rochester against the Red Wings.

Last Game

Buffalo lost a one-run lead in the ninth inning to fall to Pawtucket, 7-4. 3B Matt Dominguez hit a two-run homer in the eighth for a 4-3 Herd lead only to see the PawSox bat around and score four times in the ninth. OF Dalton Pompey was on base four times in the loss, going 2-3 with two walks, a stolen base and two runs scored.

vs. Scranton/Wilkes-Barre (0-0)

Tonight's contest is one of 17 between the Bisons and the RailRiders this season. The clubs also met 17 times last year with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre having the 9-8 advantage over the Herd. However, Buffalo did win five of the eight games at PNC Field.

Drew Hutchison

RHP Drew Hutchison is 0-1 after two starts despite allowing just one hit in 9.1 innings of work. The Bisons fell 1-0 in the season opener in Pawtucket as Hutchison struck out nine in five innings. Last Wednesday in Syracuse, the righty worked 4.1 hitless frames in a game the Herd lost in 13 innings, 3-2. Hutchison's .034 average against leads the IL.

Dalton Pompey

OF Dalton Pompey has hit in each of his first six games this year with a .429 (9-21) average. Pompey has also drawn three walks for a .500 on-base pct. Even after missing the first four games with a toe injury, Pompey leads the Herd with six runs scored.

Andy Burns

INF Andy Burns has averaged .308 (8-26) with three doubles after an 0-15 start to the season. Last season, Burns finished 6th in the IL with 140 hits and 10th with a .351 on-base pct. Burns has also started at four defensive positions after just 11 games.

A.J. Jimenez

C A.J. Jimenez has been activated. The catcher was designated for assignment on March 28 and cleared waivers. Jimenez played just 28 games last season, 23 with the Herd, before June surgery to clean up cartilage in his left wrist. Jimenez hit .218 with 9 RBI in that limited time with the Bisons in 2015.

To make roster room for Jimenez, C Humberto Quintero has been granted his release...Bisons pitchers have struck out 83 batters and allowed 81 hits...All 7 Herd losses have been by three runs or fewer.

Blue Jays Update

The Blue Jays (6-7) defeated the Red Sox, 4-3, on Patriots' Day. Toronto scored four times in the eighth inning, two coming off a two-out single from C Russell Martin. Toronto won despite hitting into five doubleplays. LHP J.A. Happ started for the Blue Jays and allowed just one run on four hits in seven innings for the win. Toronto in on to Baltimore for a three-game set.
