Today's Game
Tonight, the Bisons take on the Norfolk Tides in the second game of a three-game series at Harbor Park (7:05 p.m.). Despite last night's loss, Buffalo is 3-2 on their current roadtrip and 11-10 on the road this season. Their 11 road wins are tied for the 2nd most in the IL this season. The Bisons return to Coca-Cola Field on Monday for a seven-game homestand against Toledo and Pawtucket.
Last Game (NOR 5, BUF 2)
The Tides used six different pitchers to defeat the Bisons, 5-2, in the series opener on Friday. Buffalo could not score until RBI singles from OF Darrell Ceciliani and OF Dalton Pompey in the 8th and 9th innings respectfully. RHP Roberto Hernandez allowed four runs over five innings to fall to 1-2 on the season.
vs. Norfolk (0-1)
The Bisons will face the Tides six times in 2016 with Norfolk coming to Buffalo, July 18-20. With last night's win, the Tides are now 8-2 in their last 10 games against the Herd dating back to 2014. Buffalo's last victory at Harbor park was August 5, 2014 (6-2) as Norfolk swept the Bisons in three games at home last year.
Chris Leroux
RHP Chris Leroux returns to the rotation after making a pair of bullpen outings to begin the month of May. He posted season-highs for a Bisons' relievers with five innings of work on May 4 against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and six strikeouts on May 9 in Durham (3.0IP). Leroux began the season 0-2 with a 4.05 ERA in four starts.
Dalton Pompey
OF Dalton Pompey brings a six-game hit streak into tonight's game. The outfielder as averaged .375 (9-24) with three doubles, a home run, five RBI and three runs scored since Sunday. Pompey has hit .306 (11-36) in 10 road games this season.
Roster Moves
RHP Ryan Tepera returns to the Herd after his second stint with Toronto this year. He was optioned by the Blue Jays on Thursday. RHP Bo Schultz also joins the club on an MLB injury rehab assignment (hip). Schultz has allowed five runs in 4.1 innings in five combined rehab outings with Dunedin (A) and New Hampshire (AA).
Bisons Bits
Bisons relievers have allowed just one earned run over the last seven games with a 0.45 ERA. The bullpen has struck out 27 and allowed just 12 hits in its last 20.0 IP...The Bisons are a perfect 10-0 when outhitting their opponents...INF Shane Opitz has been transferred to New Hampshire (AA). He went 0-3 in his lone Bisons game.
Blue Jays Update
The Blue Jays (19-18) shutout the Rangers, 5-0, behind eight masterful innings from former Bisons RHP R.A. Dickey. The knuckleballer struck out six and allowed just three singles for his second win of the season. Toronto got home runs from DH Edwin Encarnacion and SS Troy Tulowitzki. The Blue Jays take on Texas again today at 8:05 p.m.
