The lead changed four times over the course of the Thursday night's game, but the second consecutive late-inning offensive performance by the opposition was the difference maker. On Wednesday, the Red Wings scored four unanswered runs en route to a one-run victory. Buffalo suffered nearly the same fate on Thursday.

The Bisons were defeated by the Red Wings, 4-3, in the final game of a three-game series on Thursday night at Frontier Field in Rochester. Buffalo has now lost consecutive games after winning three in a row.

The Herd took a one-run lead in the top of the fifth inning thanks to Jonathan Diaz's second home run of the season - a two-run blast to left field to make it a 2-1 ball game. It didn't take long for the Red Wings to retaliate. In the bottom of the sixth, Rochester's Oswaldo Arcia sent a deep fly ball over the fence in left field to bring home two more runs and a temporary one-run Rochester lead.

Each team scored a run in their respective halves of the seventh inning, with Rochester still holding a one-run lead. Buffalo would not be able to come back from the deficit.

Buffalo's starter Scott Copeland was impressive through his first five innings of work, but lost his touch in his final 1.1 innings pitched. Copeland was cruising through the fifth inning, as he only gave up three hits and a run through that span while holding a slim lead.

In the sixth and seventh inning, Copeland gave up three runs on four hits and was driven out of the game with one out in the seventh frame. He finished his outing with 6.1 innings pitched, while giving up four earned runs seven hits in his third loss of the season.

The Buffalo offense had an admirable day, accumulating eight hits, but only managed to score three. Munenori Kawasaki and Alex Hassan led the Herd with two hits apiece. Matt Hague failed to record a hit, yet still holds the leagues highest batting average with .339. Hague is 17 at-bats away from the season qualification for the IL Batting Title.

The Bisons return home for a three-game weekend series against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre before the three-day All-Star break. Friday's game will begin at 7:05 p.m.

BISONS NOTES:

Ramon Santiago went 0-for-4, ending his seven-game hitting streak ... Melky Mesa streak of multi-hit games ended at four
