Taking the hill tonight for the Red Wings was Tyler Duffey. In his last four starts, he gave up 19 hits and four unearned runs. Duffey posted a 4.50 ERA in the first and second innings of his previous starts, yet he was able to retire the Bisons without any damage in the first and second inning of tonight's game.

For the Bisons, Scott Copeland made the start. Copeland was 5-2 coming into tonight's game and 3-0 on the road for Buffalo. He was called up by the Blue Jays throughout the early season, making tonight only his 10th start of the season.

Chris Herrmann recorded his first hit as a Red Wing in the bottom of the second inning. A line shot hit off of Copeland's glove allowing Herrmann to reach first safely. Jose Martinez followed up by hitting a double play ball, leaving the game scoreless through two.

In the top of the third inning, a walk by Duffey and a base hit down the third baseline left two runners in scoring position for the leading hitter in the International League, Matt Hague. Duffey forced a ground out to get out of the jam and retire the side. Hague was batting .381 with 19 RBI with runners in scoring position and two outs.

Leading off the bottom of the third inning, Danny Ortiz knocked a single through the hole between first and second. Doug Bernier forced a walk by Copeland, putting Wings on first and second. Another line shot back to Copeland off the bat of Eric Farris allowed the runners to move to second and third. Ortiz scored the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly by Polanco. The Wings led the Bisons 1-0 heading into the fourth inning.

Three up and three down for both Duffey and Copeland in the fourth inning left the game 1-0 Wings.

Duffey gave up a one-out, two-run homer to Jonathan Diaz in the top of the fifth inning to give the Bisons a one-run lead. Diaz's home run was the first given up by Duffey in the 2015 season, pitching for both Rochester and Chattanooga. The next two batters were retired, leaving the score 2-1 Bisons.

Martinez led off the bottom of the fifth with a base hit to right field. The next pitch by Copeland hit Bernier on the elbow, allowing him to take first base. On four pitches, Copeland walked Farris to load the bases with only one out. Bisons' second baseman Munenori Kawasaki turned a double play on a ground ball by Polanco to get out of the inning and to keep their 2-1 lead.

Triple-A All-Star James Beresford lined a double down the third baseline to lead off the sixth inning. On a 1-1 pitch, Oswaldo Arcia smoked a two-run home run to right field. Not only did Arcia's seventh home run of the season give the Wings a one-run lead, it also extended his hitting streak to eleven games. Unable to continue the rally, the Wings took the field leading 3-2.

The Bisons tied the game back up at three after an error by Polanco at shortstop in the top of the seventh. Relieving Duffey with two outs and runners on first and second, Aaron Thompson forced a groundout to end the inning.

Duffey pitched 6.2 innings, allowing six hits, three runs, two earned, one walk, and one walk. He struck out four and threw 100 pitches, 69 for strikes.

Copeland came out to the mound in the top of the seventh inning and gave up a base hit down the middle to Farris. Farris stole his fourth base of the season, putting him in scoring position for Polanco. Stealing second was a good move by Farris because on the next pitch Polanco lined a shot to right field, scoring Farris and putting the Wings ahead. Rob Rasmussen relieved Copeland with one out and Polanco on second. Helping himself, Rasmussen made a play on a ground ball by Beresford to get the second out of the inning, then struck out Rodriguez to retire the side.

Copeland (5-2) pitched 6.1 innings, allowing seven hits, four earned runs, one home run, and three walks. He threw 95 pitches, 52 for strikes, and struck out one.

Ahead 4-3 in the eighth, Thompson (1-0) walked Hague and struck out Luke Scott in the top of the eighth inning before Alex Meyer came in to throw for the Wings. Meyer forced a pop fly to center to gain the second out, but then allowed a base hit down the middle to put runners at first and second. On the first pitch to Ramon Santiago, Meyer forced a ground ball to Bernier at third where he got the force.

After a one-two-three inning for Chad Jenkins and the Bisons in the bottom of the eighth inning, A.J. Achter took the mound for the Wings in the ninth. Achter walked Kawasaki to put the tying run on base with none out, then struck out Diaz for the first out. Achter got a fly out, but Andy Burns blooped a single to push Kawasaki to third base. Achter faced the dangerous Hague, and Hague flew out to Ortiz in center for the final out. Achter picked up his 14th save of the season.

The Bisons out-hit the Red Wings, 8-7.
