Today's Game

This evening, the Bisons take on the Charlotte Knights in the first game of a three game series at Coca-Cola Field. This begins the second half of the current homestand after winning two of three against the Columbus Clippers. After an off day on Monday, the Herd will travel to Toledo for a three game series with the Mud Hens June 5-7, as part of a nine-day road trip spanning Toledo, Columbus, and Lehigh Valley. The Buffalo Wings will then return home June 14-17 as they host the Rochester Plates.

Last Game: BUF 4, COL 3

RHP Chris Rowley tossed 4.2 innings in the no-decision Thursday morning. RHP Luis Santos and RHP Justin Shafer threw a combined 5.1 shutout innings in relief while only surrendering three hits. OF Roemon Fields collected three hits on Thursday while INF Tim Lopes had 2, including a walk-off sacrifice fly in the 10th inning that scored pinch runner Gift Ngoepe.

Today's Starter: RHP Deck McGuire

RHP Deck McGuire is making his seventh start of the season, and is in search of his fourth victory with the Bisons in 2018. The righty surrendered only an unearned run over four innings in the no-decision in Game 2 of May 27th's doubleheader at Rochester. That was his first start since spending roughly a week with the Toronto Blue Jays. McGuire appeared in three games while pitching 5 innings in his second recall of the 2018 season.

Charlotte (0-0)

The Bisons and Knights will play for the first time this season. The two teams will play a total of 6 times in 2018. Following the three games at Coca-Cola Field, Buffalo will travel to BB&T Ballpark in Charlotte, NC for a three-game series August 13-15.

Tim Lopes

INF Tim Lopes went 2-4 on Thursday. The speedy infielder collected his 11th multi-hit game of the season, now tied with INF Jason Leblebijian for the team lead. Lopes also knocked in two runs, one of which came on a sacrifice fly to right field in the bottom of the 10th to score pinch-runner Gift Ngoepe. His average is now up to .315 with the two base hits, tying him with teammate C Danny Jansen for 5th in the IL in batting average among qualifiers.

Roemon Fields

OF Roemon Fields collected three base hits on Thursday. This was the speedy outfielder's 4th multi-hit game of the season and his season high. He is tied with teammate INF Tim Lopes and Charlotte's Juan Perez for 5th in stolen bases.

Transactions

RHP Dusty Isaacs was added to the Bisons' roster from New Hampshire (AA) on Thursday.

Bisons Bits

The Bisons were 18-12 during the month of May, the most wins in the month since going 23-7 in 2005...the 18 wins are the 4th most May wins in the Modern Era...The Herd is now 21-2 when scoring the first run this season...Thursday's game was the first time Buffalo has won when trailing after 6 innings.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (25-31) had a scheduled off-day Thursday as part of the 9 game road trip to Philadelphia, Boston, and Detroit. LHP Jaime Garcia takes the mound tonight in the opener at Comerica Park facing LHP Blaine Hardy (7:10 p.m.). During the month of May, OF Dwight Smith Jr. hit .300 (9-30) with 5 extra-base hits in 15 games. Following the series in Detroit, Toronto has another scheduled off-day Monday before hosting the New York Yankees June 5-6 and the Baltimore Orioles June 7-10.
